AccessProof is built on a simple premise: an accessibility tool shouldn't be a surveillance tool. We designed the extension so that we know as little about you as technically possible. Here is exactly what that means.
The short version
- The extension collects no personal data, no analytics, no browsing data.
- Scans run entirely locally in your browser. Page content never leaves your machine.
- The only network call is a license check when you buy or activate a report.
- This website sets no cookies and uses a self-hosted, cookieless visit counter.
What the extension collects
Nothing. The free scanner requires no account and no sign-in. When you scan a page, the axe-core engine runs inside your own browser tab; the results are rendered there and exist only on your machine. We do not receive the URL you scanned, the content of the page, the results, or anything about you.
There is no analytics library, no crash reporter, and no usage telemetry in the extension.
The one network call
When you purchase a site report — or activate one you've already purchased — the extension makes a single request to validate your license key. That request contains the license key and nothing about the pages you scan. The server answers "valid" or "invalid". That's the entire exchange.
If you never buy a report, the extension makes no network calls at all.
Purchases and invoices
Checkout is business-to-business. To issue a VAT invoice we collect the details you'd expect on one: company name, billing email, and VAT ID. We process these to fulfil the contract and to meet legal bookkeeping obligations (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(c)), and we keep invoices for the statutory retention period. We do not use your billing details for marketing.
This website
This site sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties — no external fonts, no CDN scripts, no embedded trackers. We count page views with a self-hosted, cookieless counter that stores aggregate numbers only; it cannot identify you and does not store IP addresses.
That is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, ask for a copy of it, object to processing, or complain to your supervisory authority. For most visitors and free-tier users we will have nothing on file — which is the point. For purchase records, deletion is limited by statutory invoice-retention rules; everything else we delete on request.
